Event Notes: Gulf Cup To Return To Kuwait After FIFA Lifts Ban

Qatar agreed to transfer this month’s Gulf Cup of Nations football tournament back to Kuwait "after FIFA lifted a two-year ban" on the country’s FA, state news agency QNA reported on Saturday. The transfer would go up for final approval by the Gulf FAs on Monday (REUTERS, 12/9).

The 2023 FIBA World Cup will be hosted by the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia. FIBA on Saturday said that its central board "picked the Asian co-hosting bid over the Argentina-Uruguay joint candidacy." It is the first time the world championship will be hosted in more than one country (AP, 12/9).

Ironman announced the additional of its first event in Slovenia, the I FEEL SLOVENIA IRONMAN 70.3 Slovenian Istria triathlon. The inaugural race will take place on Sept. 23 and features a cross-border bike course through Slovenia and Italy (Ironman).
