FOX promoted Star India Chair & CEO UDAY SHANKAR to president of its Asia unit. Effective immediately, Shankar will lead 21st Century Fox’s video businesses across all of Asia, including Star India and Fox Networks Group (ECONOMIC TIMES, 12/5). ... Japanese baseball club Seibu Lions catcher GINJIRO SUMITANI was elected to succeed MOTOHIRO SHIMA as the head of the Japan Professional Baseball Players Association. Sumitani joined the Lions in '06 and has served as the head of the Seibu players’ union since last year. He represented Japan in the World Baseball Classic twice, earlier this year and in '13 (KYODO, 12/7).

COACHES/MANAGERS: Argentine Superliga side Lanús named EZEQUIEL CARBONI its head coach. His first game will be against Chacarita Juniors on Monday (CLARIN, 12/6). ... League Championship side Hull City appointed NIGEL ADKINS as its permanent head coach on an 18-month deal. Former Sheffield United Manager Adkins, 52, becomes the club's "fifth manager in less than 17 months" and replaces LEONID SLUTSKY, who departed by "mutual consent" on Sunday (London TELEGRAPH, 12/7).
