Bundesliga side Cologne appointed former Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt coach ARMIN VEH as managing director on Wednesday, filling the job left vacant by JÖRG SCHMADTKE's departure in October. The club said that 56-year-old Veh signed a contract through June '20 (AP, 12/6). ... Former Australian Football League exec RICHARD SIMKISS was “thrown a career lifeline“ by media exec CRAIG HUTCHISON. Simkiss starts on Thursday as group business director for Hutchison’s media company, Crocmedia (HERALD SUN, 12/6).

COACHES/MANAGERS: Serie A side Crotone coach DAVID NICOLA resigned following four straight losses in all competitions. The move came following an "apparent clash with club management" after a 3-0 defeat at home against Udinese on Monday. The club is in 16th place in the league, two points above the relegation zone (AP, 12/6).
