ManU Names Melitta Its First Official Coffee Partner

ManU and coffee company Melitta announced a multi-year partnership. The brand will become the club’s first official coffee partner. Melitta, part of the family-owned Melitta Group, will be the club’s exclusive coffee partner in Europe, with the partnership covering the U.K., Ireland and Germany. More than 200 Melitta coffee machines and makers will be installed in exec club boxes and hospitality areas around Old Trafford. The new offering includes a coffee bar as well as a new dining area within the main restaurant (ManU). In London, Daniel Matthews reported the club added to its "bulging list of bizarre commercial deals." The deal is the "latest in a series of peculiar commercial partnerships" announced by ManU in recent years. The club now boasts 54 official partners, ranging from shirt sponsor Chevrolet to its official soft drinks partner in Nigeria, CHI, and VIVA, its official integrated telecom partner for Bahrain and Kuwait. In total, ManU has seven "regional" partners -- covering the likes of Japan, Thailand and Vietnam -- as well as 12 "financial" partners, 10 "media partners" and 24 other "global" partners (DAILY MAIL, 11/20).
