The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) "made an attempt to safeguard the nation's footballing development" by appointing FERNANDO HIERRO as its new sporting director. The news followed the appointment of VICENTE CASADO as the new marketing director. Hierro was Spanish football's last sporting director, but he left the position in '11 and was never replaced (MARCA, 11/8). ... Australian Football League club Carlton appointed CAIN LIDDLE as CEO. In a "major leadership surprise," the club confirmed former Geelong player Liddle won the job over "more heavily-fancied" former AFL Game Development Manager SIMON LETHLEAN, who was seen as the "hot favourite" to join Carlton (HERALD SUN, 11/8). ... Fox Networks Group Spain appointed VÍCTOR GARCÍA-MORATO as programming & content director of its entertainment channels in Spain, Fox and Fox Life. He will report directly to FNG España GM DANIEL PÉREZ, whom he will replace as head of programming "after his promotion last June." García-Morato will "lead the entire programming team of these channels, including also the area of product purchases" (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 11/7). ... Topgolf named Crew VP/Business Development CHRIS PREVITE regional director of global partnerships (Topgolf). 

COACHES/MANAGERS: Women's Super League 1 side Arsenal Women appointed Australian coach JOE MONTEMURRO as its new manager. Montemurro was assistant coach at W-League club Melbourne City and replaces PEDRO MARTÍNEZ LOSA, who left Arsenal Women on Oct. 25 "after three years in charge" (BBC, 11/8).

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown.
