Spanish Basketball Federation Publishes List Of Players For FIBA World Cup Qualifiers

The Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) on Monday published the list of players it hopes to have for the team's first two qualifiers for the 2019 FIBA World Cup, according to Darío Ojeda of EL CONFIDENCIAL. The list includes 11 players on teams competing in the EuroLeague, "which will not stop to give space to the national teams." This means players "will have to choose between their club teams and the national team, although they are expected to play for their clubs." The list comprises 24 players, from which 12 will suit up against Montenegro on Nov. 24 and against Slovenia on Nov. 26 (EL CONFIDENCIAL, 11/6). Ojeda also reported "the next step will be the announcement of the 12 players that will begin practicing for the qualifiers on Nov. 20." It "remains to be seen whether the list of 12 will include any EuroLeague players." It "is expected that the 12-person list will not include any players competing in the EuroLeague." If no agreement is reached, "European teams will be playing not only without their NBA players, but also without EuroLeague players" (EL CONFIDENCIAL, 11/7).
