South Africa's state prosecutors told the Supreme Court of Appeal on Friday the six-year sentence for murder handed to Paralympic Gold Medalist OSCAR PISTORIUS was "shockingly lenient" and asked for the right to launch an appeal. He was not in court for Friday's hearing (REUTERS, 11/3). ... Shooting champion MICHAEL DIAMOND "made the heart-wrenching decision" to sell his two Olympic Gold Medals "to pay his debts." FELIPE MASSA will retire from Formula 1 "at the end of this season." The Brazilian intended to quit F1 at the end of '16 but returned to Williams after Valtteri Bottas moved to Mercedes following the retirement of world champion Nico Rosberg. Scotland's "wretched" Rugby League World Cup campaign "threatens to descend into farce" after captain DANNY BROUGH, SAM BROOKS and JOHNNY WALKER were "sent home for misconduct."
