Olympique Lyonnais, Chinese Esports Organization EDG Form FIFA Online 3 Team

Chinese esports organization EDG and Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais confirmed that they "joined forces to form a FIFA Online 3 team," according to Jack Stewart of the DAILY MAIL. The roster "added three players on top of Lyon's existing four man roster for the mobile football game." The roster will compete at the FSL League on Nov. 4. OL has since updated its logo and changed its name on Weibo to "Lyon EDG E-Sports Club" as it looks to "tap into the Chinese market." Both organizations on Weibo made "similar teases about the upcoming announcements." OL said that it was "going to partner with a gaming team" and EDG revealed it "would partner with a European football team." EDG has had CS:GO and Hearthstone players in the past but "by far" its most successful is its League of Legends team which is five-time LPL champion and recently competed at the LoL World Championships in China. EDG had already "confirmed that this partnership will not involve" its LoL squad. The "most likely option" was a FIFA team or, more specifically, FIFA Online 3, which "ended up being the case" (DAILY MAIL, 10/31).
