League Championship side Bolton Wanderers took the "surprising move to announce all attempts to sell the club have been terminated," according to the BOLTON NEWS. Pointing toward “constant speculation on social media as well as the local and national press,” a statement "appeared to confirm" talks with investors had been ended by Chair & Owner Ken Anderson. Just six days earlier, Anderson revealed that talks were ongoing with "credible" bidders from the Far East and Eastern Europe. He then reiterated his stance in a column on the team's official website, adding, "If someone was to come in and wanted control and could show they had the wherefore to fund taking the club to the next level, then l would consider it." But a statement issued by Wanderers "took issue" with non-specific “continuous media reports” claiming the club exploited the chair’s willingness to speak on the subject and subjected him to “negativity” in some quarters. The statement added, "The chairman's position in this matter has remained constant throughout his term of office and he has always been completely transparent with supporters and stakeholders alike." The statement also indicated Anderson "would not be looking to resume talks with investors before the end of the season" (BOLTON NEWS, 10/25).
