Franchise Notes: McLaren's Future Expected To Be Unveiled In Singapore

McLaren’s split from Honda, and new partnership with Renault, "looks imminent and the rumor mill is grinding faster" as Formula 1 embarks on an Asian swing of races starting in Singapore this weekend. Sources said that negotiations had "progressed as expected and official confirmation was likely within days" (REUTERS, 9/11).

An appeal to raise £75,000 ($99,615) to introduce safe standing at League One side Shrewsbury Town was extended. A crowdfunding scheme launched in August reached its deadline of Tuesday, with £48,000 raised. Fan group the Supporters' Parliament "wants the money to install about 400 rail seats in one area of the ground" (BBC, 9/12).

League Championship side Sunderland’s women’s team will "no longer share training facilities" with the men’s first team at the Academy of Light and is set to move grounds. Stadium of Light execs "implemented the shift in response" to the Women’s Super League moving from a summer to a winter game and the women’s side "recently switching from full-time to part-time status" (London GUARDIAN, 9/12).

Northern Ireland Football League Premiership side Crusaders' clubhouse has been searched by the Police Service of Northern Ireland amid an investigation into Ulster Volunteer Force criminality in North Belfast, with the club saying that it "cannot comprehend the actions of the police." The PSNI carried out seven searches on Monday (RTÉ, 9/12).
