Ligue 1 Side Girondins De Bordeaux Partners With U.S.-Based Girls' Club

Ligue 1 side Girondins de Bordeaux formed a partnership with Washington, DC-based football club Olney Girls 99. The clubs joined forces to create Girondins de Bordeaux USA. Olney Girls 99 is a girls’ club with U13, U15 and U19 teams. Olney Girls CEO Nisa Saveljic, a former Montenegro int’l and Girondins defender, masterminded the partnership. Girondins de Bordeaux USA will focus on increasing the number of teams to 6-8 in time for next season; developing a boys’ team; coaching seminars; and a training camp in the U.S. in ’18. Saveljic said, “I hope that this will be the start of a long and fruitful partnership. It’s already a great source of pride for me personally.” Girondins de Bordeaux President Stéphane Martin said, “This partnership is a fantastic opportunity for us, as we look to develop women’s football and boost our international standing” (Girondins de Bordeaux).
