NBA Oklahoma City Thunder player STEVEN ADAMS "paid a fleeting visit" to Christchurch, New Zealand, on Friday where he took "hundreds of young basketballers" through an "Adams training camp" at Cowles Stadium. At least 200 selfies were reportedly taken with Adams in the five hours he was at the stadium (STUFF, 8/25). ... ANDY MURRAY "dramatically withdrew from the US Open" on Saturday because of "continuing problems with the right hip that troubled him throughout Wimbledon and may even force him to sit out the rest of the season." Murray has not played a competitive match in the six weeks since he lost to SAM QUERREY in Wimbledon's quarterfinals. He traveled to N.Y. a week ago with "full intentions to play" the tournament that he won in '12 (SUNDAY TIMES, 8/27). ... Former Olympic Council of Ireland President PAT HICKEY "will not return to Brazil to face charges of ticket touting, money laundering and tax evasion." Paris St. Germain "introduced yet another big-money star to the crowd" at the Parc des Princes as NBA Golden State Warriors player STEPH CURRY took part in the kickoff before Friday's game. Curry took to the center circle before Friday's Ligue 1 game against Saint Etienne and received a customized PSG shirt, then kicked the ball into the PSG half (ESPN.com, 8/25).
