India's Tripura Cricket Association Building $30M, 25,000-Seat Venue

The Tripura Cricket Association will build a 25,000-seat "world-class cricket stadium" at Narsinghgarh, according to the PTI. TCA Secretary Tapas Dey said, "It is a Rs 200 crore ($30M) project of which 50 percent would be borne by BCCI and the rest by TCA." He added that it will be a modern stadium having all facilities and "will be capable of holding all types of international matches" (PTI, 8/21). BUSINESS WORLD's Rajguru Tandon reported the venue "would be the second largest cricket stadium in the north-eastern region after Assam's Guwahati stadium." The Tripura government has allocated "around 15 acres of land to the TCA to construct the stadium." Dey added, "In the under-construction international standard cricket stadium, all latest modern facilities would be available so that international cricket matches could be held here. The seven-story club house, modern lift, and electronic score board are the other features of the stadium" (BUSINESS WORLD, 8/21).
