Scottish Premiership Side Rangers Fans Petition For Safe-Standing Zone In Ibrox

Thousands of Scottish Premiership side Rangers fans "have thrown their support" behind a petition calling for a safe-standing zone in Ibrox, similar to the one the Green Brigade uses in Celtic Park, according to Aftab Ali of the Glasgow EVENING TIMES. The petition, which was started by football fan Duncan Martin on Tuesday, "has received close to 5,000 signatures with more being added with each passing minute." The petition will be delivered to Rangers "in the hope it will be seriously considered." Hundreds of supporters posted their reasons for signing the petition, "with dozens claiming that a safe-standing area would improve the atmosphere in the stadium." Rangers fan page Ibrox Loyal also made an "impassioned plea." Rangers Managing Dir Stewart Robertson said at the end of last year that the club would "look at" the possibility of introducing a safe-standing area at Ibrox. However, plans have yet to materialize (EVENING TIMES, 8/16).
