League Notes: British Cycling In Talks About Office Link With Team Sky

British Cycling is still in discussions about "whether it is appropriate" for Team Sky to rent an office at the Manchester Velodrome as the two organizations try to determine how they can have "separation with collaboration." The relationship between the national governing body and the professional road-racing team has been "under scrutiny for years." The links were "thrown into sharp relief last year," when it emerged that British Cycling coach Simon Cope "had been used to courier a controversial medical package to Bradley Wiggins" in '11 (LONDON TIMES, 7/27).

The Int'l Swimming Federation (FINA) will not revert to "synchronised swimming" after the name of the sport was changed to "artistic swimming" last week. FINA's congress voted to change the name to "attract a wider audience to a sport that has expanded recently," including having male competitors (REUTERS, 7/26).

Int'l Boxing Association (AIBA) employees were locked out of their offices on Wednesday with President Wu Ching-Kuo "set to be ousted from his role." Security guards have been blocking access to the AIBA offices in Lausanne. A notice pinned to the door and signed by an interim exec committee said that a "motion of no confidence had been called against Taiwan's Wu" (AFP, 7/27).

World Taekwondo said that it plans to send invitations to Int'l Taekwondo Federation President Ri Yong-son and Secretary General Kim Sung-hwan -- both North Korean -- for the 2017 Taekwondo Peace Festival in Seoul (YONHAP, 7/27).

The IAAF and Leeds Beckett University will carry out the biggest biomechanics research project ever conducted in athletics during next month's IAAF World Championships London 2017. The aim of the project is to support athletes and coaches in optimization and improvement of their training and competition performance (IAAF).

The Cambodian Sailing Federation passed a "major milestone" by becoming the newest full member of World Sailing. World Sailing, based in the U.K., is sanctioned by the IOC. CSF, formed nearly three years ago, is a member of the Asian Sailing Federation (PHNOM PENH POST, 7/27).
