Event Notes: Relevent Sports Reprices Tickets For Tottenham-Juventus Friendly

The organizer of Tottenham's friendly against Juventus "admitted defeat by listening to outraged fans" after they branded the ticket prices a "disgrace." Tottenham announced it would welcome the Serie A club to Wembley on Aug. 5, with promotions company Relevent Sports hosting the match and setting the ticket prices. But fans were "vocal in their unhappiness at the prices." The company has since "repriced a number of tickets in the lower bowl of the stadium" (London DAILY MAIL, 7/25).

Scottish Premiership side Celtic fans are "set to come up against a derby day style policing operation" when they visit League Championship club Sunderland for Saturday's friendly. Up to 8,000 Celtic supporters are expected to travel to the match "which is being played to mark 20 years since the Stadium of Light first opened its doors." Northumbria Police warned there will be a "highly visible policing presence" at the ground and in Sunderland and Newcastle (Scotland DAILY RECORD, 7/26).

Morocco will "meet next month's deadline to bid to host the 2026 World Cup," senior Confederation of African Football official Amaju Pinnick said. Interested countries have until Aug. 11 to submit their bids. The North African nation "failed in four previous World Cup bids" -- in '94, '98, '06 and '10 (BBC, 7/26).
