India Cements To Revive Partnership With IPL Side Chennai Super Kings

Cement manufacturer India Cements is "looking at continuing its brand association" with Indian Premier League side Chennai Super Kings, according to Gireesh Babu of the Indian BUSINESS STANDARD. The company said that it is "strengthening its brand" building programs in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, its major markets, "through sponsorship in the Tamil Nadu Premier League," the regional version of the IPL. India Cements Exec President Rakesh Singh said, "We have been a sponsor for the brand till it was suspended and we want to continue to be on the back of their jersey in future. It gives us reach across the country." The Chennai franchise was suspended for two years from the IPL by the Justice R.M. Lodha committee in '15, as it convicted Gurunath Meiyappan, the son-in-law of former BCCI President N. Srinivasan, "of betting" (BUSINESS STANDARD, 7/19). THE HINDU reported CSK will return to the IPL on Saturday at the end of its two-year ban. Singh said that fans who want to watch the inaugural match have been asked to come in a yellow jersey, CSK's official color (THE HINDU, 7/19).
