League Notes: Head Of Spanish Basketball Players Association Speaks Out

Association of Spanish Professional Basketball Players (ABP) President Alfonso Reyes said of recent meetings involving the Spanish Basketball League (ACB), Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) and Spain's Superior Sports Council (CSD), "We were ignored during Spanish basketball's most decisive weeks. There is an evident lack of respect toward the players. ... Resolutions were reached during meetings where we were not taken into account" (AS, 7/19).

Golfers are "set to be subject to blood tests at the Open Championship next year to boost the credibility of the sport." The move comes weeks after the PGA Tour said that it would be "introducing blood screening next year to detect substances such as human growth hormone in addition to carrying out urine tests." Golfer Justin Rose said, "I don't think it's necessary but it's also why I completely support it" (LONDON TIMES, 7/19).

The Commonwealth Games Federation and Lagardère Sports launched "CGF Partnerships," which will bring the organizations together under a new entity. The partnership will provide support to hosts through a new event delivery model (Lagardère Sports).

South Korea President Moon Jae-in's administration will "aim to improve the recreational sports environment in the country during its five-year term," according to a state policy blueprint announced Wednesday. Under the plan revealed by the State Affairs Planning Advisory Committee, the Moon administration will "first try to expand community sports clubs that will provide various programs with instructors" (YONHAP, 7/19).
