Financier Amanda Staveley Interested In Purchasing A Premier League Club

Financier Amanda Staveley, the former girlfriend of Prince Andrew, indicated that she will be interested in purchasing a Premier League club "if the right one comes on the market," according to Charles Sale of the London DAILY MAIL. Staveley has the resources to buy every one of the 20 EPL teams. She has a "staggering" £28B ($36.5B) of "mainly sovereign wealth money from the Middle East under her management." She also has "extensive knowledge of what is required for a big-money football takeover," having sold Man City for Thaksin Shinawatra to Abu Dhabi's Sheik Mansour. Staveley, through her business PCP Capital Partners, made a joint bid for a share of Liverpool with Chinese firm Everbright Ltd. a year ago that was rejected by the Fenway Sports Group (DAILY MAIL, 7/18).
