Amazon Setting Sights On Broadcast Rights To Tennis' ATP Masters Series

Amazon has tennis high on its list of priorities as it develops "big plans for the live streaming of sport," according to Charles Sale of the London DAILY MAIL. The ATP Masters series, whose contract with Sky expires in '18, is "seen as a serious target." Amazon wants to start developing its sports content, and has the financial resources to "challenge for any sports rights" of interest. Amazon representatives are understood to have been at Wimbledon "making contacts in tennis ahead of a potential bid to stream all the major tournaments below the Grand Slams on the Amazon Prime subscription platform." Sky Sports staff is "fearful of losing more tennis," which does not have a dedicated channel in its revamp (DAILY MAIL, 7/14).
