The newly-formed CAA China named MARY GU SHUHANG as CEO. Gu has held several exec positions with the Special Olympics and was most recently Special Olympics int'l regional president & managing director, East Asia. Gu has been hired to build upon Creative Artists Agency's 12 years of experience in the region to further its efforts in sports services, branded content, live events, TV and music touring, while continuing to foster its market-leadership in motion pictures and film finance throughout Greater China. CAA China was launched in April by CAA in partnership with CMC Capital Partners, China's leading investment fund in media, entertainment, lifestyle and internet content. It is majority-owned by CAA. "In our 12 years in China, we have built the region's largest and most successful motion picture agency," said CAA President RICHARD LOVETT in a statement. "Now, we are moving into the next stage of our strategic growth plan for CAA China. Mary will accelerate this momentum using her expertise and network of relationships to further diversify our capabilities and reach in sports and entertainment throughout the region." Gu previously held several key positions in multi-national companies and organizations, including VP of the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games Exec Committee; director of PR and deputy director of large-scale events of the 2007 Special Olympics World Games Steering Committee; and president of the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games Opening Ceremony production.
