Tour de France Dir Christian Prudhomme has been "forced to defend" the organizers' decision to use the "treacherous" Mont du Chat descent, where Australia's leading contender, Richie Porte, crashed out. Stage nine of the race, before Tuesday’s rest day, "claimed five riders, including two of the top five in the general classification, Porte and Welshman Geraint Thomas." Swedish sportswear brand Björn Borg organized a tennis match with one player on each side of the U.S.-Mexico border, half the court on Mexican soil and the other half on U.S. soil. The Borg Open -- Tennis across Borders -- is an initiative intended to create an open world in which sport has the power to unite people. The matche was played at Tijuana River between San Diego and Tijuana (Björn Borg).
The Korean FA said that South Korea aims to "draw more than 60,000 fans to a stadium in Seoul" when it hosts Iran in a World Cup qualifier on Aug. 31. The KFA said that the Seoul World Cup Stadium has attracted 60,000 or more spectators on 20 occasions (YONHAP, 7/11).
