IOC Awards '18-24 Broadcast Rights In Africa To DStv SuperSport, Econet Media, SABC

The IOC awarded exclusive broadcast rights to DStv SuperSport, Econet Media and the South African Broadcasting Corporation for the 2018 PyeongChang Games, 2020 Tokyo Games, 2022 Beijing Games and 2024 Olympics.

  • DStv SuperSport acquired the pay-TV media rights in South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Econet Media acquired the free-to-air and pay-TV media rights in sub-Saharan Africa.
  • SABC acquired free-to-air media rights in South Africa.
The Econet Media and SABC agreements include a commitment to broadcast at least 200 hours of live same-day coverage of each edition of the Olympic Games, and daily highlights of the Winter Olympics on free-to-air TV (IOC).
