UPC To Transmit Bundesliga Matches Shown By Sky Deutschland In Switzerland

Liberty Global's Swiss cable operator, UPC, will transmit the live Bundesliga games shown by Sky Deutschland in Switzerland starting in August, according to Jörn Krieger of BROADBAND TV NEWS. All matches for which Sky owns the rights will be "screened exclusively via cable and IPTV" by UPC's new sports channel, MySports -- in total, 572 games of the first and second division Bundesliga per year. For years, pay-TV broadcaster Teleclub, operated by UPC competitor Swisscom, had been Sky Deutschland's Bundesliga partner in Switzerland. The move leaves Teleclub with "just the 40 Bundesliga games per season transmitted by Eurosport" (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 7/7).

IN FRANCE: MEDIA SPORTIF reported beIN Sports will continue to broadcast the Bundesliga in France for another year. The Qatari-owned channel has owned the Bundesliga rights since '15 (MEDIA SPORTIF, 7/6).
