Lawn Tennis Association To Lead £250M Grassroots Investment

The Lawn Tennis Association is leading a £250M ($324.9M) investment to "improve grassroots facilities," according to the BBC. The Transforming British Tennis Together initiative "aims to make the sport more accessible." Over the next 10 years, it will "raise the number of covered and floodlit courts by 50%, refurbish facilities and make courts easier to book online." The LTA will invest £125M ($162.5M) to improve existing community facilities and is "hoping to source" a further £125M through "matched funding." With the new funding, the LTA "aims to deliver:"

  • 750 newly-covered indoor courts.
  • Over 4,000 newly-floodlit courts.
  • Nearly 3,000 court entry systems (BBC, 6/29).
