Media Notes: Ecuador FA Agrees To $276M Domestic Rights Deal With Gol TV

The Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) awarded the domestic TV rights to the country’s top two football divisions to cable channel Gol TV. Under the deal, which runs from '18-27, the pan-regional network will "show matches from Ecuador’s Primera Categoría Serie A and Serie B." Gol TV agreed to pay around $276M for the rights, according to FEF President Carlos Villacís Naranjo (SOCCEREX, 6/26).

The Basketball Champions League is experiencing the fastest digital growth in Europe. The first season registered 28 million video views and reached more than 49 million people through social media over the course of '16-17. The Final Four in Tenerife, Spain, generated 2.7 million video views and 840,000 likes (Basketball CL). 

Sports data provider Sportradar secured a deal with China's Beitai Digital to "expand its data-driven solutions across the country." Sportradar CEO Carsten Koerl said that the partnership will "allow the company to provide the best and most compelling content to Chinese platforms and publishers" (GAMING INTELLIGENCE, 6/26).

Russian pay-TV operator Tricolor TV introduced a package of sports TV channels "aimed specifically at corporate clients." Known as Premium Sport, it "consists of eight popular services," including Match! Arena HD, Match! Nash Sport and Nash Futbol HD, and costs 4,500 rubles ($76) a month to broadcast in public places (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 6/26).

The FIBA EuroBasket Women 2017 final between France and Spain was watched by close to 1 million viewers on W9 in France, with a peak audience of 1.4 million. W9’s broadcast drew a market share of 4.4%. Pay-TV channel Canal+ also showed the game, which Spain won 71-55, and drew 426,000 viewers, with a peak audience of 540,000 (L’ÉQUIPE, 6/26).
