Marketplace Roundup: McDonald's Signs Esports Deal With StarCraft 2 WCS

McDonald's has become the first commercial partner of the StarCraft 2 World Championship esports series. The sponsorship, "Australia-only at this stage, includes naming, on-ground activations, content integration and branding across all touchpoints linked to the event." It is the "first time Blizzard's StarCraft 2 World Championship is being sponsored" (AD NEWS, 6/23).

League Championship side Norwich City is "poised to unveil" its new main sponsor "in the coming days" after confirming the end of a nine-year deal with Aviva. Aviva will "continue to work closely with Norwich City on a community partnership basis." Aviva will also remain the sponsor of the Community Stand. The club declined to comment on reports it agreed to a potential shirt sponsorship with Swedish mobile gaming company LeoVegas (EASTERN DAILY PRESS, 6/24).

The Northern Ireland Open announced the Galgorm Resort & Spa as its new title sponsor. Galgorm has been a partner of the NI Open from the beginning and now the hotel has "elevated its commitment" (BELFAST LIVE, 6/24).
