NANO RIVAS will not coach Spanish second division side Nàstic next season after "taking over with three games left last season and helping the club avoid relegation." Nàstic said that Rivas is stepping down "for personal and family reasons" (SPORT, 6/19). ... Spanish Basketball League (ACB) club Valencia and coach PEDRO MARTÍNEZ "decided to end their relationship" after two years. The club won the '16-17 ACB championship on Friday "for the first time in its history" (EFE, 6/20). ... NELSON VIVAS will succeed SEBASTIÁN BECCACECE as coach of Argentine first division side Defensa y Justicia. Vivas previously coached Argentine first division side Estudiantes de La Plata (CLARÍN, 6/19). ... Estudiantes de La Plata named Uruguayan GUSTAVO MATOSAS its new coach on Tuesday. Matosas previously coached Paraguayan side Cerro Porteño (LOS ANDES, 6/20). ... Spanish football club Mallorca, which will compete in the third tier next season, signed VICENTE MORENO as coach. Mallorca Owner ROBERT SARVER, who also owns the NBA Phoenix Suns, announced the hire of Moreno and confirmed that CEO MAHETA MOLANGO and Sporting Dir JAVIER RECIO will remain with the club. Sarver also announced that Mallorca accepted the resignation of President MONTI GALMÉS. The team's owner added in a statement, "Relegation has been a harsh blow for the ambitious plans that we had for the club and we recognize that this is not the scenario that we had envisioned when we took the reins of the club in January 2016" (SUPERDEPORTE, 6/19). ... ANIL KUMBLE stepped down as the Indian national cricket team's head coach, just days after the team lost to Pakistan in the Int'l Cricket Council Champions Trophy. Kumble was expected to join the Indian cricket team in the West Indies after an ICC board meeting but "decided to call it quits" (HINDUSTAN TIMES, 6/20) ... LIU GUOLIANG "will step down after four years" as head coach of China's table tennis team as "part of a management restructuring," state media reported on Tuesday. Liu, who won the singles and doubles Gold Medals at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, is taking a job as vice-chair of the China Table Tennis Association (REUTERS, 6/20). ... Malaysia Super League side Johor Darul Ta'zim appointed Portuguese ULISSES MORAIS as head coach to replace BENJAMIN MORA for the rest of the '17 season. Morais, 57, "comes to Malaysia after he was previously linked with the country's national head coach position" (ESPN.com, 6/19). ... Serie A side Sassuolo confirmed the appointment of CRISTIAN BUCCHI as head coach. The club announced the arrival of the former Serie B side Perugia manager on its official website. Bucchi signed a two-year contract and will bring four technical staff coaches -- assistant coach MIRKO SAVINI, fitness coach IURI BARTOLI, technical advisor LUCA PAVONI and goalkeeping coach LUCA GENTILI (ESPN.com, 6/20). ... League One side Fleetwood Town Manager UWE RÖSLER signed a new contract with the club until ’20. The 48-year-old German guided the team to fourth last season, its highest-ever finish. Rösler joined on an initial two-year deal in July ’16 (BBC, 6/20).
