Former Scotland U20 rugby int'l HOLLIE DAVIDSON was appointed the nation's first contracted female referee. Davidson played for Scottish Women's Premier League rugby side Murrayfield Wanderers and "enjoyed two seasons with the Scottish U20s." The 24-year-old was "selected to officiate at four of this season's Women's Sevens Series tournaments and it is hoped she will be involved in the 2020 Olympics" (SKY SPORTS, 6/13). ... Former horse trainer JENNY PITMAN will join the British Horseracing Authority's disciplinary panel. The 71-year-old's appointment "comes after recommendations by an official report that more ex-trainers and jockeys should be used in the process." She is one of 15 new members, along with former jockeys PHILIP ROBINSON and JODIE MOGFORD, "on a 23-strong panel" (BBC, 6/12). ... Atlético Madrid's ANTOINE GRIEZMANN extended his contract with the club until June '22. Griezmann, whose previous deal was due to end in June '21, has "long been linked" with ManU but the France int'l is "now set to remain a leading player in La Liga" (ESPN.com, 6/13).
