League Notes: F3 Could Become Single-Chassis-And-Engine Formula In '20

Formula 3 "could become a single-chassis-and-engine formula for its next generation of cars" scheduled for '20. The move would be "the biggest change ever in the DNA of F3, the last bastion of multi-chassis/engine competition in junior single-seater racing," which has existed for seven decades. It would "come hand in hand with the GP3 Series being dropped, and the FIA's existing F3 European Championship changing shape to join Formula 2 on the Formula 1 support bill" (MOTORSPORT, 6/12).

The "much delayed" independent report into claims of bullying and discrimination within the Great Britain cycling team will be published on Wednesday. Co-commissioned by British Cycling and UK Sport in April '16, the report has been prepared by a five-strong panel led by British Rowing Chair Annamarie Phelps (London DAILY MAIL, 6/12).

The crisis "engulfing" British Olympic sport over allegations of bullying and abuse "deepened with the revelation that police are investigating a former senior coach at British Canoeing after several allegations were made of child grooming and sexual assault." It is understood that "at least three female former athletes have made allegations" to police. One athlete told investigators that the coach groomed her when she was under the age of 16 and that he later "took advantage of his position of power by making unwanted sexual advances" toward her. The alleged offenses are believed to have taken place between '06 and '10 (London GUARDIAN, 6/12).

The BCCI "will soon appoint an ethics officer to address the issue of conflict of interest, which has been plaguing Indian cricket for some time now." Committee of Administrators Chair Vinod Rai on Monday said that "such a decision was the need of the hour" (PTI, 6/12).

PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan is one of more than 170 CEOs from companies around the world who signed a pledge in support of the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion, announced on Monday as the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace (PGA Tour).
