BCCI Denies Cricket Advisory Committee Wants To Be Paid For Finding National Coach

The BCCI on Sunday "rubbished media reports" that the Cricket Advisory Committee "wants to be suitably remunerated for picking the Indian team's head coach," terming the claims "baseless and malicious," according to the PTI. Reports claimed that the CAC -- comprising former Indian cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and V.V.S. Laxman -- wants to be paid for picking the national coach. BCCI CEO Rahul Johri said, "BCCI wishes to clarify that there has been no such claim and the story carried by the newspaper is totally baseless and devoid of facts." The three former cricketers, who held their first meeting after the India-Sri Lanka Int'l Cricket Council Champions Trophy game in London on Thursday, reportedly informed Johri that they "don't want their services to be honorary" (PTI, 6/11).
