Franchise Notes: Man City Staff To Discuss Game Plans With Fans Before Games

Man City Manager Pep Guardiola's "backroom staff will deliver tactical sermons" to corporate club fans before every home game next season. Members of Guardiola's team are reportedly "set to work on rotation" inside the new "Tunnel Club" hospitality suite. Supporters "who have paid thousands for tickets will hear reasoning behind Guardiola's starting XI" and how the club intends to beat rivals "by the Catalan's performance analysts" (London DAILY MAIL, 6/6).

EPL side Southampton will report Liverpool to the Premier League over an "alleged illegal approach" for defender Virgil van Dijk. The 25-year-old "wants to move to Anfield" if he leaves St. Mary's. The £50M ($64.5M)-rated Netherlands int'l signed a six-year contract last year. Liverpool is "yet to formally approach" Southampton to ask for permission to speak to Van Dijk (BBC, 6/6).

Hong Kong First Division League side South China fans "slammed the club's management" for its decision to "pull out" of the Hong Kong Premier League for next season. There were "over 200 comments" after the South China Athletic Association, the parent body of the club, posted on Facebook on Monday evening its decision to play in the second tier "to focus on youth development" (SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST, 6/6).
