Football Notes: Fourth Substitute Trial Extended To Four UEFA Tournaments

UEFA announced the trial for a fourth substitute to be allowed in extra time will be "extended to four UEFA tournaments this summer." Teams at the women's Euro 2017 and U19 Championship, as well as the men's U21 and U19 Championships, will "all be allowed the extra change." UEFA will also "continue to trial the 'ABBA' penalty system" (BBC, 6/1).

The FA is "understood to be involved in a legal dispute" with EPL side Bournemouth Owner Maxim Demin over "alleged betting charges." The FA has been "silent over the affair" and is "refusing to comment" on why its website published and then removed details of charges against the multi-millionaire Russian. The FA is "alleging that he placed 611 bets on football in breach of its rules" (LONDON TIMES, 6/1).

K League side Seongnam said that it "recently filed a suit" against the K League to "amend the promotion playoff result" in '16. The team said that it "previously requested" that the K League forfeit the second leg of the promotion playoffs on Nov. 20, 2016, due to Gangwon's "use of an ineligible player"  (KOREA HERALD, 6/1).
