The NBA and the NBPA announced Kwesé Sports, Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa, Castle Lite, General Electric, Solektra Int'l, Marriott Int'l and 947 as official partners of NBA Africa Game 2017. The partner roster represents the most ever for the NBA in Africa. The second NBA game in Africa will take place on Aug. 5 at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa (NBA).
Serie A side Torino extended its commercial agreement with Suzuki Italy for a further year. The company will "continue to have a strong brand presence" at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino. It will also remain as the first-team's front-of-shirt sponsor (SOCCEREX, 5/25).
The Caribbean Premier League named eZone its official express delivery service provider. EZone will handle all logistical issues related to the shipping of teams and supporting teams' equipment for the tournament, which will take place from Aug. 4-Sept. 9 (JAMAICA SPORTS, 5/25).
Drone racing team XBlades named financial tech company NEX Group its official global sponsor. Professional drone racing leagues were formed in '16. XBlades will be renamed NEXXBlades during the two-year deal (LEAPRATE, 5/25).
Parkrun agreed to a commercial partnership with Leeds Building Society as the free mass participation running series "continues to broaden its sponsorship dealings off the back of strong global growth." The three-year deal will see Leeds Building Society collaborate with Parkrun UK to help increase participation levels and community engagement across the U.K. The partnership was negotiated by Pitch Marketing Group (THE DRUM, 5/25).
La Liga side Espanyol will promote Catalonia as an int'l tourist destination as part of an agreement the club signed with the Catalan Tourism Agency. The deal "came about thanks to talks following the club's complaint to officials" after the Catalan government earlier this year launched a campaign that said, "If you support FC Barcelona, you support Catalonia" (AS, 5/25).
