Facility Notes: Qatar World Cup Stadium Opens Sensory Room

As Khalifa Int'l Stadium, a 2022 World Cup host site, opened its gates for the Emir Cup final, a pilot sensory room project also kicked off, potentially changing the way that people with cognitive disabilities experience football. The room benefits from noise cancellation, soft furnishings, mood lighting, relaxing music and brightly colored sensory toys and equipment (FIFA).

Curragh Racecourse officials are "gearing up for this weekend’s first classic test of temporary facilities" put in place during the track’s €70M ($78.3M) redevelopment. The int'l "spotlight" will be on Irish racing’s HQ for the triple-Group 1 Tattersalls Guineas festival. Just over a week ago, the first meetings of a restricted summer program were run at the Curragh and the track’s CEO, Derek McGrath, said that "problems which arose then are being addressed" (IRISH TIMES, 5/23).
