Marketplace Roundup: Bwin, Borussia Dortmund Agree To Four-Year Partnership

Betting firm bwin "furthered its presence within the German market" by signing a four-year partnership with Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund. On a €3M ($3.3M)-per-year deal, bwin will become a "feature marketing partner" of the club, with its brand "prominently displayed" throughout Signal Iduna Park (SBC NEWS, 5/17).

Open Gate Brewery Golden Ale and liqueur brand Pimm's have been appointed as the official ale and spirits partners for the Int'l Cricket Council Champions Trophy 2017 (ICC).

Bundesliga side Augsburg announced an extension of its partnership with VR-Bank. The Bavarian bank has been a second-tier partner of the club since '10, and will receive additional TV advertising "along with exposure in the club's magazine." VR-Bank will also be "granted access to first-team players for marketing campaigns." According to German outlet SPONSORs, the deal is "likely to be worth" around €350,000 ($390,000) "over a two or three-year term" (SOCCEREX, 5/17).

Amaury Sport Organisation and AEG agreed on a strategic partnership to develop cycling in Germany. AEG will lead the sponsorship process for a new Deutschland Tour in Aug. '18 and the annual Eschborn-Frankfurt cycling classic (ASO).

Plastic goods company Bic signed partnerships with 11 Brasileiro clubs to "manufacture licensed cigarette lighters." The "Bic Passion for Soccer" campaign will see Bic provide branded lighters for Brazilian sides Palmeiras, Atlético-Mineiro, Botafogo, Corinthians, Cruzeiro, Fluminense, Grêmio, Internacional, Santos, São Paulo and Vasco da Gama. The lighters will launch "later in May" (SOCCEREX, 5/17).

The Ekstraklasa, Polish football's top flight, announced a one-year sponsorship deal with Polish meat producer ZM Henryk Kania. The company will "benefit from a wide range of exposure" during the '17-18 season, and its logo will appear in advertising campaigns at all 16 Ekstraklasa stadiums. Additionally, the company will be "promoted through the league's social media channels" (SOCCEREX, 5/17).

Qatari department store Fifty One East and Sony Middle East & Africa announced a three-year deal with the Qatar FA as official sponsor of the Emir Cup, extending the partnership through '19 (Fifty One East).

Ligue 1 side Nantes extended its partnership with human resources company Synergie Group through ’21. Nantes President Waldemar Kita said, "This is great news for the club and a strong sign of the economic fabric of the region" (Nantes).

on Wednesday presented its new logo. The organization wants its new corporate identity to help rebuild the meaning of CONMEBOL (CONMEBOL).
