La Liga side Real Betis named LORENZO SERRA FERRER the club's new VP, "a role he has previously held." Ferrer said of the team's coaching search, "There are many coaches and at the moment we cannot say which is the best person and the best fit" (MARCA, 5/15). ... New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing named "experienced Australian administrator" BERNARD SAUNDRY as its next CEO. NZTR Board Chair ALAN JACKSON said, "Bernard's vast knowledge and experience from the creation of Racing.com and negotiating media rights will be advantageous to New Zealand racing" (NEW ZEALAND HERALD, 5/15). ... PADDY BOYD has been appointed interim CEO of Canoeing Ireland. The national governing body has been without a CEO since the departure of KARL DUNNE. Boyd was CEO of the Irish Sailing Association for 16 years until he resigned in late '04 (IRISH TIMES, 5/15).

COACHES/MANAGERS: Former Saudi Arabia and Jordan national football Manager NELO VINGADA has been appointed Malaysia national coach, "given the task of guiding the team" in the 2019 Asian Football Confederation Asian Cup qualifying campaign. The 64-year-old Portuguese signed a two-year contract. He will "arrive on May 25 ahead of the scheduled trip to North Korea on June 8" (ESPN.com, 5/15). ... W-League side Sydney FC Manager DANIEL BARRETT tendered his resignation after two-and-a-half seasons with the club. Barrett took over from Matildas Manager ALEN STAJCIC in Sept. '14 (Sydney FC). ... National League side Wrexham reappointed CARL DARLINGTON to its coaching staff as the FA of Wales coach returned to his "hometown club." Darlington will do the job part-time, "combined with his role as head of coach education for the Welsh Football Trust" (BBC, 5/15).
