Rio Olympic Silver Medalist MADELINE GROVES will "attempt to have allegations that she missed a doping test thrown out before it reaches a hearing," with her lawyer saying that Int'l Swimming Federation (FINA) agents did not "fulfill protocols in trying to locate her at her San Diego university" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 5/11). ... Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund defender MARC BARTRA returned to training "after recovering from injuries sustained during last month's attack on the team bus" prior to a Champions League quarterfinal match against Monaco. Bartra sustained a broken wrist and had shrapnel in his arm during the attack. He underwent surgery shortly after (REUTERS, 5/11). ... Chinese Super League side Guizhou Zhicheng Manager GREGORIO MANZANO insisted he did not leave his previous job with Shanghai Shenhua "over money," but the Spaniard will still receive a reported $8.8M salary. Manzano returned to China last week, having been replaced by GUS POYET at Shenhua at the end of last season (SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST, 5/11).
