Epsom Derby Extends Sponsorship Deal With Investec Through '26

Investec agreed to a five-year extension of its sponsorship of the Derby Festival at Epsom for "five more years, meaning the firm will back the race" until '26, according to SKY SPORTS. The specialist bank and asset manager first sponsored the meeting in '09 and later extended the initial five-year deal by a "further 10 years" until '21. Investec also announced a new partner in Steinhoff Int'l, which owns British high street retailer Poundland, with the "famous Hill area of the track" being rebranded as the "Poundland Hill." The deal "also sees Investec continue its sponsorship of the Spring Meeting at Epsom" (SKY SPORTS, 5/11).

FANS TWEAK NEW NAME: The London TELEGRAPH reported the decision to "rebrand the iconic mound has attracted some ridicule on social media" (TELEGRAPH, 5/11).
