Uruguayan Juan Sartori In Advanced Talks To Take Over League One Side Oxford United

League One side Oxford United takeover talks are "at a critical but advanced stage," according to the OXFORD TIMES. A "firm offer" has reportedly been made to club Chair Darryl Eales by Juan Sartori. The fact that the Uruguayan businessman is set to meet stadium landlord Firoz Kassam in Monaco this week to discuss the ground "shows the process is gathering pace." It is "not inconceivable" a deal for the club could be struck by the end of the month. Sartori and a separate Chinese consortium "expressed desire in taking control" of the club. The interest from China has "cooled," but that is not the case with Sartori, the 36-year-old son-in-law of Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev (OXFORD TIMES, 5/10). The BBC reported Oxford United has been owned by Eales since July '14. Sartori met with members of the club's supporters' trust, OxVox, and minority club shareholder Stewart Donald. Eales, who has been unavailable for comment, is "thought to have had contact with Sartori" (BBC, 5/10).
