Olympic Notes: L.A., Paris Await Visits From IOC Inspectors

L.A. and Paris, both "already seen as winning options" for the 2024 Games, "await their Olympic inspectors this week." The cities will "host three-day visits" by an IOC panel. IOC President Thomas Bach asked his four VPs for "advice on also bringing the 2028 Olympics into play, rewarding both cities with hosting duties." IOC Evaluation Commission Chair Patrick Baumann said, "There is no change in the scope and the role and mandate" (BLOOMBERG, 5/8).

The 2017 Brazilian Paralympic University Games will take place at the national Paralympic Training Center in São Paulo, from June 26-30, as announced by the Brazilian Paralympic Committee and the Brazilian Confederation of University Sports. Badminton and wheelchair tennis will be added to the program, which also includes athletics, boccia, judo, swimming and table tennis. Around 400 athletes are expected to compete (IPC).
