Finance Notes: Premier League Side Bournemouth Announces Profit Of £3.4M

Premier League side Bournemouth filed its annual accounts for the year ended July 31. The club recorded a profit after tax for the year of £3.4M, compared to a loss of £38.6M in '15. Turnover increased from £12.9M in '15 to £87.9M in '16, almost entirely due to the increased revenue generated by being a Premier League club. Staff costs increased from £29.6M in '15 to £59.6M in '16 (Bournemouth).

League One side Bolton Wanderers was reportedly issued a "winding-up petition" over an unpaid £5M ($6.5M) loan. Finance company BluMarble lent Dean Holdsworth's Sports Shield the money to complete a takeover with club Chair Ken Anderson's Inner Circle Investments. However, in March, Anderson bought former Bolton striker Holdsworth's shares to "become the majority owner" of the club. A High Court date has been set for May 22 (BBC, 4/27).
