Franchise Notes: EFL Seeking Urgent Talks With Leyton Orient Owner

The English Football League is "still seeking urgent talks" with Leyton Orient even though players and staff have "finally been paid their wages for March." Some Orient employees have "still not received their overdue salaries" and the EFL wants answers from Owner Francesco Becchetti about his plans for the club. The EFL said that it remains "exceptionally concerned" about the situation at Orient and wants to meet senior club officials to get answers (London EVENING STANDARD, 4/25).

Barcelona's FCBEscola project will expand its presence in South America next season with a new school in Bogotá, Colombia. This will take the total of FCBEscolas for the '17-18 season to 34 across five continents. The latest opening also gives Barcelona four FCBEscolas in South America (Barcelona).

Reports suggest that the sale of Serie A side Palermo could be delayed, "as there is essentially no-one on the board." Maurizio Zamparini has agreed to sell the club to YW & F Global Ltd., and has stepped down as president. Paul Baccaglini was announced as the new "patron" of the club, but Corriere dello Sport reported he has not "been seen in the city for several days." It is believed the new president is currently in Miami, and he has not "given any update on the current situation" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 4/25).

League Two side Notts County canceled its end-of-season awards night after its women's team "folded." Notts County Ladies was put into liquidation on Friday. Owner & Chair Alan Hardy said, "It's been a very difficult week for everyone connected with Notts County players, staff and fans. I don't think it's right that we go ahead with an event of this nature" (BBC, 4/25).
