KATHERINE GRAINGER has been named chair of UK Sport. The 41-year-old Scot, Britain’s most-decorated female Olympian, succeeds ROD CARR as head of the funding agency for elite sport, "which has come in for criticism for what some view as a ruthless pursuit of medal success." Grainger was up against former paralympic swimmer MARC WOODS and will "take over despite having no real experience in sports administration" (LONDON TIMES, 4/22). ... Stockholm-listed gaming operator Betsson appointed KAAREN HILSEN as CFO. Hilsen "currently serves as CFO of Swedish mobile operator Telenor Sweden" and will assume her new role before Nov. 1, replacing FREDRIK RÜDÉN, who is leaving the company on Aug. 31 (GAMING INTELLIGENCE, 4/21). ... Formula 1 announced the appointment of CHLOE TARGETT-ADAMS as global director, promoter & business relations to lead race promotion operations for the organization. Targett-Adams joined F1 in '09 as an in-house lawyer. Since '12, she has worked within the F1 leadership team providing senior counsel on the negotiation of all race promotion deals (F1). ... The World Surf League named Discovery Communications Senior VP/Digital BETH GREVE chief commercial officer (WSL). ... European Gymnastics Union (UEG) General Dir KIRSI EROFEJEFF-ENGMAN is leaving her post on June 30. She will be replaced by LISA WORTHMANN, who is currently in charge of events at the Swiss Gymnastic Federation (UEG). ... London-listed gaming technology supplier Sportech announced the appointment of RICHARD MCGUIRE as its next chair, replacing ROGER WITHERS, who will be retiring next month. McGuire has served on the board of Sportech since Aug. '16 as a non-exec director and was previously chair of Timeweave, the joint-owner of horseracing broadcaster TurfTV (GAMING INTELLIGENCE, 4/21). ... La Liga side Sevilla confirmed that it replaced Sporting Dir MONCHI with ÓSCAR ARIAS, who was previously the team's technical secretary. He has been with Sevilla since summer '13, when he replaced VÍCTOR ORTA (EL PAÍS, 4/22). ... Argentine first division side Unión de Santa Fe coach JUAN PABLO PUMPIDO resigned after his team's 2-1 loss to Vélez Sarsfield on Saturday. He had coached the club since November (CLARÍN, 4/23).
