Rome Poised To Join Formula E Calendar For Season Four As City Approves Permits

Rome is "poised to join the Formula E calendar for season four after the Italian capital's local authority cleared a major hurdle," according to Scott Mitchell of MOTORSPORT. It was agreed unanimously on Thursday to approve the permits to host a race in Rome's residential and business district, EUR, located south of the city center. This included the consideration of a track Formula E "already conducted a feasibility study for." Formula E stakeholders need to discuss the addition of the race to the schedule before it is made official, and the track "would need FIA homologation," but the hope is a Rome ePrix will be on the '17-18 calendar. The approval from the city is valid for five years (MOTORSPORT, 4/20).
