Event Notes: Hero Challenge Added To Three European Tour Events

Hero Challenge, an "innovative" golf format which features a sudden-death shoot-out under floodlights, "will now be part of three European Tour events for the next three years." The night golf event, introduced by Hero MotoCorp Ltd., made its debut at last year's British Masters. The Hero Challenge will "mark its return this year with three editions, first at the Scottish Open before returning to the British Masters and then finishing at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai" (PTI, 4/19).

The 2019 Solheim Cup will take place from Sept. 13-15, 2019 as the biennial contest between Europe and the U.S. heads to the PGA Centenary Course at Gleneagles in Perthshire. Scotland won the right to host the '19 event after an extensive bidding process involving 10 countries (Solheim Cup).

The U20 World Cup, hosted by South Korea, is 30 days away, and local organizers and the South Korean national football team are in the "final stretch of their preparations." Organizers said that refurbishment work at existing facilities has been completed and "there are just a few things left to be done." Organizing Committee Vice Chair Kwak Young-jin said that ticket sales for the South Korean national team matches "have been successful," but the organizers are "hoping people will also buy tickets for matches between other countries." About 1.2B won ($1.05M) worth of tickets, "which is nearly half of their target," were sold as of last month (YONHAP, 4/19).
