A deal is "close to being clinched" for the two sides to meet at ANZ Stadium at the end of the Premier League season. It will be the first time Liverpool will have played in Sydney. The club drew almost 96,000 to the Melbourne Cricket Ground when it beat Melbourne Victory 2-0 in '13, then "attracted a record crowd of 53,000" when it beat Adelaide United 2-0 at Adelaide Oval in '15. It is expected that the game against Sydney FC "will sell out" the 83,000-capacity ANZ Stadium.
