Real Madrid President Reportedly Paid €300,000 Per Year To Control Online Campaign

Real Madrid President Florentino Pérez and Alejandro de Pedro agreed in Sept. '13 to create a website -- www.diariobernabeu.com -- "with the objective of improving the image of Real Madrid through the Internet and various social media networks," according to MUNDO DEPORTIVO. It was reported this week that Pérez agreed to pay up to €300,000 per year "for de Pedro to organize the online campaign." De Pedro was among those accused in the Operación Púnica corruption campaign. The campaign "reportedly involved Pérez giving de Pedro orders about what to publish," as the Real Madrid president "used the site to pressure referees and coaches" (MUNDO DEPORTIVO, 3/30).
