Australian Football League side Port Adelaide's partnership with airline Cathay Pacific was strengthened following announcements with the club's China Engagement Strategy. Cathay is Port Adelaide's int'l travel partner, having increased its investment in the club to "premier" level prior to the '17 season. It will fly hundreds of Port Adelaide supporters to the club for Round 8 (Port Adelaide).
Scottish Championship side Hibernian announced a three-year kit deal with Italian sportswear company Macron. The club will wear the new uniforms "from the start of next season" as it teams up with retailer PSL. Macron also designs uniforms for Scottish sides Motherwell and Ross County (SCOTTISH SUN, 3/27).
Thrifty has been revealed as the official car rental supplier of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Thrifty will "provide nearly 1,400 vehicles across 15 different category types to help the Games run smoothly." Car-with-driver services will be provided to Games officials, including technical delegates, team officials, dignitaries and sponsors (INSIDE THE GAMES, 3/27).
Energy company Lyse "signed on to become a national sponsor of Norway's Eliteserien and Obos League," the top two divisions of club football in the country. The sponsorship will provide branding opportunities for Lyse and its TV subsidiary, Altibox. The partnership initially runs for two years, until the end of '19, "with an option to extend for a further season" (SOCCEREX, 3/28).
The Int'l Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and logistics services provider DB Schenker extended their partnership for four years (FIVB).
Victoria University, an Australian sport university, announced a five-year strategic partnership agreement with A-League side Melbourne Victory. This new engagement will see VU provide sport science and performance support for the Victory Academy teams and provide learning experiences for current and prospective Victoria University students (VU).
The French Basketball Federation (FFBB) announced watch brand Pierre Lannier renewed its partnership through ’20. The brand has been an official provider to the FFBB since ’14. No financials have been released (FFBB).
