Route Mobile Founders Investing $10M To Start Indian Esports Company

Route Mobile founders Rajdip and Sandip Gupta announced an investment of $10M "to start an electronic gaming startup, Cobx Gaming Ventures," according to OUTLOOK INDIA. Cobx Founder Rajdip said, "As avid gamers ourselves, we have always wanted to contribute to the growth of professional esports." Mujahid Rupani has been named CEO of the new venture. Cobx also announced the launch of an int'l and Indian esports league. It will "be forming new international teams for popular online games" (OUTLOOK INDIA, 3/28). The ECONOMIC TIMES' Gaurav Laghate reported Gupta, who recently sold a 10% stake in Route Mobile for $23M, said that Cobx "wants to create awareness and give an opportunity and a platform to Indian players." He said, "This is the right time to invest in esports, and it could not have been better. There are other people trying different things in this space, but I want to create awareness and make esports a career option for serious players" (ECONOMIC TIMES, 3/28).
